Public transport in Kraków
There are two zones within the Kraków transportation system.
The Kraków Airport is located in Zone II. The Main Railway Station, hotel Ibis, all hostels and the Congress venue are all situated in Zone I. If you consider buying a season ticket (valid for 1,2,3 or 7 days), then a Zone I x-day ticket plus double trip Zone I+II ticket to get from and to the airport by bus would be the best choice in case of using the city’s transport system. Note that from the airport you can also travel by train or taxi – see also the section "How to get from A to B".
Note: only students of Polish higher education institutions are eligible for reduced tickets (with a 50% discount). The same rule applies to railway tickets.
Note: The stops have their names, not numbers. If in the description in section "How to get from A to B" we use for example “get off on the 4th stop named Łagiewniki”, you need to track the stop names. (We always provide the name of the previous stop so that you can prepare to get off with advance).
Tickets can be bought at newsagents or in ticket machines at bus and tram stops. Ticket machines can also be found in a number of buses and trams. Drivers can sell tickets as well, but note: they only have “multiple trip valid 60 min” tickets and reduced tickets available. In all these places you can only pay in cash. For information on ATMs (Polish name: BANKOMAT) and currency exchange offices (Polish name: KANTOR) please see: http://www.6ecm.pl/en/local-travel-info/money-prices.
