Prof. Marta Sanz-Solé in Kraków

On January 25, 2011, Prof. Marta Sanz-Solé, president of the European Mathematical Society, accompanied by Prof. Stefan Jackowski, president of the Polish Mathematical Society, both of whom were guests of Jagiellonian University, visited Kraków to discuss preparation of 6 European Congress of Mathematics. The visit began with a meeting with Rector Magnificus Prof. Karol Musioł who ensured that the University will make the Congress a great success. Prof. Sanz-Solé also met representatives of the local authorities of Kraków and Małopolska region who declared their support for the congress. Prof. Piotr Tworzewski, Vice-Rector of Jagiellonian University and a mathematician, led a tour through Auditorium Maximum and explained the experiences of the other congresses held at this building. After the tour, Prof. Tworzewski invited Prof. Sanz-Solé and organizers of the congress for lunch in the Senate room in the Auditorium. In the afternoon the President of EMS met at the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics with the local Organizing Committee, chaired by Dean of Faculty Prof. Roman Srzednicki.
