Joint EMS/EWM Panel Discussion
"Redressing the gender imbalance in mathematics: strategies and outcomes?"

This event is organised jointly by the European Mathematical Society Women in Mathematics Committee www.euro-math-soc.eu/comm-women.html and European Women in Mathematics www.europeanwomeninmaths.org/. It will be held on Tuesday July 3rd, 2012, afternoon at the 6ECM venue.

Five panellists who have been involved in a wide spectrum of initiatives to encourage and support participation of women in science, especially mathematics, will give brief presentations of the projects in which they have been involved and address the outcomes. The topic will then be open to general discussion. All participants of the 6ECM, men and women, are welcome to participate. The organizers hope that sharing some of the very wide variety of different initiatives will be a constructive step to disseminating ideas and sharing best practice.
